With 'Royal Wedding Fever' and the lovely recent sunny days we are having at the moment, my thoughts have turned towards garden parties and barbecues! I have been wanting to make my own bunting for ages as I love the festive feel it gives.
I was originally going to use 'British' chintzy style fabrics for this, but as I was sorting out my extensive Japanese kimono collection over the weekend, I thought what a shame it was to keep some of the pretty fabric packed up in boxes-so came up with the idea of turning some into bunting so I could enjoy looking at the pretty patterns.
Now the 'proper' kimonos are too valuable to cut up, so this bunting is made from (my other extensive collection) of the YUKATA-a light cotton kimono worn for Summer festivals.
All the patterns are double sided on the fabric, so this saved me lots of time as I didn't have to double up the material.I was spoiled for choice for which patterns to use-Only used up 3 yukata in the process-looks like I'll be making more bunting soon so the sun had better stay out!!
There's a wedding coming up?
